Laryngopharyngeal reflux and Helicobacter pylori
Replace stomach acid, enzymes and nutrients that aid digestion and are necessary for health. Dear Dianne, I just wanted to share an experience. I used to search a lot about the reflux disease, but when I consulted the doctors, they told me this kind of searching may be misleading when you do not have medical information. Please consult a doctor along with your searches. I have low stomach acid and supplement with HCI with pepsin and other digestive enzymes .
And suppression of stomach acid, which kills bacteria and other microbes, may make people more susceptible to infections, like C. difficile. Hi Katy. I too am suffering from autoimmune disease, SLE and Hashimoto’s.
Hi Steve – I would really appreciate some advice. About 4 years ago I went to my doctor because I was experiencing the feeling that something was caught in my throat. He immediately sent me for a gastroscopy and it turned out that I have a small area of inflammation in my oesophagus and diagnosed me with Barretts Syndrome (which I was told is pre-cancerous cells). I was put on Omeprazole PPIs but they started to make me belch frequently. I wasn’t convinced that I had too much stomach acid because I wasn’t getting any heartburn or belching before I went to the doctor – I only had the ‘lump in my throat’ feeling plus I am constantly clearing my throat (hawking is it called?).
In my ebook The Heartburn and Indigestion Solution, I take a natural approach to acid reflux, based on the principles of integrated medicine. By reducing levels of stomach acid, acid-lowering drugs may produce serious side effects, especially when used for several months or longer. These side effects have been well documented in medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Archives of Internal Medicine.
One doesn’t apparently even need bacterial overgrowth to experience extraintestinal manifestations of H. pylori – the toxins it produces is enough. I’ve a new primary doctor now and during my last check-up, I mentioned that I thought that I had rosacea. She agreed.
I had severe reflux for 2 whole years and didn’t sleep – woke up almost every night feeling like a dragon that could breathe fire. Tries all acid blockers including prescription strength and nothing worked.
Hope I have not over stayed my welcome. To everyones good health. I’ve been wondering for awhile if I have acid reflux.
Body weight reduction and physical activity, quitting cigarettes and alcohol use are one of the first steps in lowering the intesity of symptoms in patients (11). Nutritional interventions with proper food choices and bowel movement regulation lead to lowering dyspeptic difficulties, but also lower the number of reflux episodes. Emptying of the bowels causes lower intra-abdominal pressure, which leads to lower possibility of stomach content reflux into the esophagus, larynx and pharynx.
natural remedies for acid reflux, you shouldn’t need to hit up the pharmacy. In almost every list of “the worst foods for digestion,†you’ll find acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes. These are commonly thought to cause heartburn, but studies have shown that acidic foods don’t have any effect on LES pressure (pressure on the doorway between the esophagus and the stomach) and don’t cause heartburn symptoms. However, if you have severe acid reflux that hasn’t been treated and has irritated the esophagus, acidic foods can be like “salt in the wound.†So if you find that oranges or tomatoes do make your heartburn feel worse, replace them with other fruits.
Any thoughts would be welcomed. Hi I have been having trouble with my stomach since I had pneumonia 20 plus years ago and I was in the hospital with antibiotics for 1 and 1/2 months. My symptoms are that when I – for example – eat meat or protein – I get spasms in my pelvis and rectum. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom but nothing moves.
Do you think gall bladder disease could be related to low gastric acid? For the past 5 years I have had gall bladder attacks, and now treat it with diet. I have no stones, just a malfunctioning gall bladder.
