When to Take Digestive Enzymes: Just as Important as Which You Take – Deerland Probiotics and Enzymes
It sounds like you need to work with a good functional medical doctor to find the root cause of what is causing your low acid levels. From what we’ve seen there are a small amount of people who need HCL, but cannot handle it due to extreme inflammation. They seem to respond well to Mastic Gum. You might want to try that. Also make sure you follow the correct steps in dosing HCL, it must be a high protein meal and always takes a few meals to get the dosage correct.
The use of PPIs (prescription and over the counter) to block stomach acid production is widespread and has been popularized by television advertisements. Stomach acid contains HCL, which is a digestive fluid secreted by stomach parietal cells that breaks down dietary proteins. Gastroesophageal reflux caused by regurgitation of HCL acid into the esophagus increases the risk of esophagitis, Barrett’s esophagus, and even esophageal cancer, and that is the main reason why PPIs remain the standard of care for any reflux. and magnesium, and a breath test was positive for methane, suggesting SIBO.
This decreases the amount of time food has to go back into your esophagus. If you get your vitamins from food, it’s unlikely you’ll get too much. If you take daily vitamin supplements on top of eating vitamin-rich foods, you may end up with more than the recommended daily value. Researchers in a 2012 study evaluated the effect of antioxidant vitamins on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal tumors. GERD is an advanced form of acid reflux.
I have gained 10Ibs in weight since the op and really don’t like feeling so swollen around my middle. Any help much appreciated.
I have no other complaints…no pain, or other issues for the rest of the day. #5 is likely a bad idea in that drinking more than just a couple ounces of water prior to a meal can dilute stomach acid and any present enzymes in the stomach to such a low state, that digestion would be impaired.
I’m just at a complete loss at what happened. I’ve done blood tests, stool samples, everything is normal. I just don’t feel normal ever since this virus. I’ve never had acid reflux before this, and have never had any other medical problems.
Once you get healthy by digesting them through BHCL, your stomach lining / health is restored and it tries to do what it was expected to do. Produce acid.
Like Myrle, I also have not seen it mentioned in Breaking the Vicious cycle book or website, but SCD would not be working for me without it. I owe so much to Steve and Jordan who encouraged me to stop my dependance on the Prilosec, start Betaine HCL and to not be afraid to get to my appropriate dosage. I take about 9 NOW pills, which I buy through Amazon as I can’t find them in stores. I know this is an old conversation but I am searching for help for my 5 year old daughter.
Older adults and people with certain health conditions and digestive problems often lack in the key digestive enzymes needed by the body. An increasing number of people take digestive enzymes today, especially those with certain health conditions.
These products are shortlisted based on the overall star rating and the number of customer reviews received by each product in the store, and are refreshed regularly. A healthy diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables can help acid reflux a few ways. It can lead to weight loss, lessen your risk of heartburn, and provide the antioxidants, vitamins, and other nutrients you need for good health. According to a 2006 study, B vitamins may help stop acid reflux symptoms. Researchers divided the participants into two groups.
Because the chemicals in our foods are not natural, the foreign chemicals throw the body off. When the body is confused in how to digest the particals in the body it automatically stores is as a fat and does not digest properly. That’s why the majority of Americans are over weight or suffer from disease. Most Americans do not have the time to grow their own food and/or not enough money to afford healthier foods. More preservatives, cheaper the food, longer it stays on the shelf the more profit.

As we saw in Part II and Part III, a high-carbohydrate diet promotes bacterial overgrowth. Bacterial overgrowth-in particular H. pylori-can suppress stomach acid.
After all the oscopies (upper and lower) the doctor told me the only thing they KNOW that causes it is “some synthetic chemicals, in particular, BPA and red food coloring.” I have stayed away from food coloring for years and now I use glass jars for most of my food storage and I use glass or stainless steel for water bottles. I believe (though I’ve never had a doctor admit it) that gastroparesis can also be caused by destruction of intestinal flora through use of antibiotics. I took many courses of antibiotics due to chronic bladder infections after the C-section delivery of my son. It took me 17 years to find a natural solution to the infections but the harm had been done. Anyway, the GI doctor said the only thing they KNOW that helps this condition is probiotics.
